Rafael Košec Tekavc (SI)
The exhibition entitled Rafael Košec Tekavc: The Light of Wood is an opportunity to explore wood as a material. Combining traditional woodworking techniques with contemporary artistic expression, this exhibition will be installed at Galerija Prečna in Kamnik, Slovenia. It will also be open during the Days of National Costumes and Clothing Heritage (‘Dnevi narodnih noš in oblačilne dediščine’) (12–14 Sep), when you will be able to see the artist at work.
Rafael Košec Tekavc is a Professor of Fine Arts at the Secondary School for Hospitality and Tourism in Maribor. He says that his artistic expression comes most alive in wooden objects that, besides their aesthetic value, also serve a practical purpose. In his work, he uses various types of wood – most often from trees that have lived among people – so each piece carries its own story and continues to live on through his creations.
